As of the start of the 2019-2020 academic year, the student social security system no longer exists.

As a new student, you remain affiliated to your current social security scheme (usually that of your parents or legal guardians).
If you are an international student from outside the European Union, you must apply for affiliation to the Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie (CPAM).

You will also need to do this if you are a French national from New Caledonia or Wallis and Futuna, or if you were born abroad.
If you are an EU/EEA or Swiss national, you can apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from the social security organization in your home country.
